Peter Krogh Petersen

Peter is a retired mechanical engineer from Copenhagen, Denmark, with a lifelong passion for engineering, the sea and adventure. His career began as a machine fitter before working on offshore drilling rigs in Danish and UK waters. After qualifying as a Mechanical Engineer, he spent many years in procurement and international sales management for global engineering companies.

In 2017, Peter stepped away from corporate life to join a 50-foot sailing yacht in Papeete, Tahiti, as First Mate. What began as a career break became an extraordinary voyage across the western Pacific — sailing through French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Along the way, he explored some of the world's most remote and beautiful places, including Maupiti and Palmerston Atoll — landfalls few sailors will ever make.

His passion for offshore sailing continued with a crossing of the Indian Ocean from the Maldives, via the Chagos Archipelago, to Madagascar. These experiences led him to achieve both his RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean qualifications.

Although Peter returned to professional life in 2019, the call of the sea never faded. After retiring in 2024, he committed himself fully to life on the water, continuing to build offshore experience with voyages including an Atlantic crossing from Cape Town to Brazil.

Away from the helm, Peter is an Advanced Open Water Diver with Nitrox certification, and enjoys exploring beneath the surface as much as sailing above it. Ashore, he values time with his family, children and grandchildren, along with motorcycling and yoga.

Today, Peter brings together decades of engineering discipline, offshore experience and a genuine love of the sea. Whether navigating coastal waters or longer passages, his aim is always the same: to create a safe, welcoming and memorable experience for everyone who steps aboard TC Grace.
